It happened again. When The Marine and I were at the pool yesterday, Sexy Venezuelan was there with my neighbor. A couple hours earlier I had seen Sexy Venezuelan walking up the stairs to my neighbor’s (his best friend) apartment, but thought nothing of it. Of course by “thought nothing of it” what I meant was I kept checking the patio to see if he was there and walked around the pool a lot in my bright red bikini just in case he was looking. The oil trends in the two years following its publication in May 2006 have largely remained unchanged, characterised by even more phenomenal windfall profits for oil companies, lack of competition in the oil and gas industry, inelastic demand for gas, and gas price spikes.This can only portend bad news for gas-dependant consumers.

CNN, Fox News and MSNBC take over broadcast networks' role as political prognosticators. THINGS weren't supposed to work this way. Last week's Democratic convention in Denver came off as a tightly scripted affair; all the drama resided in how the thing was covered on TV. It was the ultimate meta-event!

Hurricane Gustav has revived the debate over the causal connection between global warming and hurricanes -- just in time for the Republican National Convention. Statistics compiled at Georgia Tech's Earth and Atmospheric Sciences department, reported yesterday by the Associated Press, indicate a sharply worsening trend.
